Alrighty. Here's the story. I'll do it step by step, as much as I can remember of it anyway. I was out of my mind by the time the weekend came (Ernie said I was a TOTALLY different person, demon possessed or something! lol)
Wednesday - Sunday September 30 - October 3 - I get a terrible cold. Congestions, sinuses, fever, the whole 9 yards. I'm extremely tired.
Monday, October 3 - Early labor begins. I go to work. Things are not progressing but contractions are coming regularly. During rest, 15 minutes apart; during movement, about 5 minutes apart. Not too much pain (like slight menstrual cramps...sorry guys!)
Tuesay, October 4 - Early labor continues. I do NOT go to work. I go to the doctor Tuesday afternoon. Things are STILL not progressing.
Wednesday October 5 - Early labor continues yet again. I do NOT go to work. I walk 4 miles, contractions continue to become stronger.
Thursday October 6 - Early labor continuues. I go to the doctor. I am 2 cms dialated. Still not much progress.
Friday October 7 - Early labor continues. I wake up at 9:30. We walk the mall all day. The contractions are much more painful. I go home to labor there.
Saturday 4:15am - We go to the hospital. Some trailer trash woman checks me and says "Honey, you're closed up tight. Go home. This is false labor." (Remember, I was 2 cms open on Thursday, but this woman is a moron. Completely. She has no idea what she's doing and in fact, falls asleep at the computer while entering some of my information.)
Saturday - daytime - I stay at home. All day. Nothing helps me to sleep. I am in severe pain. I have been awake at 9:30am for 24 hours.
Saturday - night - I try to relax as much as possible but because of contractions it's nearly impossible. At 9:30pm. I'd been awake for 36 hours.
Saturday - 11pm - We go back to the hospital. This time, with a more competent staff, I am admitted at about 11:40. I am utterly exhausted. I ask for any drugs they can give me. They give me a slight painkiller at midnight and I dose but don't sleep.
Sunday - 4am - Epidural is administered. (I know I said I didn't want it, but I was going on 48 hours with NO sleep and hard labor contractions! I was insane, literally. I think I lost my mind for a few moments while in labor.) I sleep peacefully from about 4am - 9am. Labor is progressing. I am nearly fully dialated at 9.5 cms. From 9am to 1pm, they try to get me to dialate to a full 10cm, but nothing works. Finally, the doctor comes in and physically pushes the cervix out of the way and I begin to push at about 2:35. After 43 minutes of pushing, Robyn was born. :-)
And HERE SHE IS! The outfit that looks like she's dressed in a blue dress was taken at the hospital when she was less than a day old. The rest of them were taken just this afternoon when she was 3 days old. :-)
Sorry about some of them upside down, but I didn't feel like rotating them!
